This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 26%. (I'm a bot)
2 Min Read.HANOI/LONDON - Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on Wednesday he hopes to conclude talks on a free trade agreement with the United Kingdom soon, the government said.
"Vietnam sees the UK as a major trading partner in Europe," Phuc told British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab at a meeting in Hanoi, the government said in a statement following their talks.
Phuc said a free trade deal with Britain, once it took effect, would "Help both countries to boost economic recovery in post COVID-19 pandemic period."
Britain left the European Union last January and is locked in negotiations with the bloc, its biggest trading partner, on a new trade deal from 2021.Vietnam has one of the fastest growing economies in Asia backed strongly by robust exports.
It has signed more than a dozen free trade agreements, including one with the European Union and an 11-country CPTPP deal that will slash tariffs across much of the Asia-Pacific.
Raab said earlier Wednesday that Britain had secured Vietnam's public support for it to join CPTPP, formally known as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

2020.09.30 18:05 autotldr Macron calls on Europe to quit dependency on US arms

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 83%. (I'm a bot)
RUKLA, Lithuania - French President Emmanuel Macron called for Europe to end its dependency on American weapons systems as he made a renewed pitch for the Continent to take control of its destiny.
Despite the recent poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Macron also defended his policy of engagement with Vladimir Putin during meetings with both the Lithuanian and Latvian presidents, whose countries remain highly wary of Russian power.
In remarks during his Baltic trip and at other times, Macron has insisted the only way Europe can exist is by building a third way in global affairs, in which it doesn't shy away from asserting its interests on the global stage.
In defending his dialogue with Putin, Macron has also sought to make clear that it does not mean he is naive or unwilling to stand up to the Russian leader.
Macron rattled most of his European partners when he launched the strategic dialogue with Moscow in August 2019, taking them by surprise.
One defense area where Macron has explicitly called out Russia is cybersecurity and disinformation.

2020.09.30 18:04 anon2020uk Legal Separation Question - Spouse Still Gets Half Income?

A quick question - if I and my partner file for legal separation - - will my income after that point still automatically be half mine and half hers, or will we be free to make our own money from that point onwards?
My wife is very frugal and fights me on literally everything I try to buy, despite me being the sole earner and us having a large amount of savings (5 figures). I tried to buy a tarp to cover part of the garden from Amazon for about £10 and she turned that into a huge fight... I feel a slave; I make the money but I can't spend any of it. I want something to say I am out, and though I have said I will continue to support her, I want to be free to spend my salary myself without fighting for every pound.
Will a legal separation set me free?

2020.09.30 17:49 Perdin Vancouver – Wednesday’s Question – “Did you end up watching part of the American Presidential debate? Do you even care about the American Election?”

Hello /Vancouver,
Yesterday our neighbours to the south had their first presidential debate, and it was something. I watched maybe 30 minutes of it, and my partner got frustrated and asked me to turn it off. We did, and I ended up watching clips of it later.
My partner, and a lot of my friends on the old MySpace, voiced they didn’t watch the American election because it doesn’t affect Canadians. I thought it was interesting, because I would argue whoever is President in the United States heavily affects not only Canada, but the world. It’s also amazing to see how their election system makes it a race between a Giant Douche & Turd Sandwich. As a voter, I voted for Justin Trudeau primarily because of electoral reform. I think politics is very important, especially when it c-- LOOK OVER THERE.
Have a great Wednesday

2020.09.30 17:49 TAHaywood [Richard "Quickdraw" McCallister: A Eulogy][Derby] Chapter 22 - Hidden Weapons

When the Tamani blew a hole in his ship, his friend, and his career, Richard McCallister called it quits. But when he gets word of another alien incursion, with his friend's family in the line of fire, he charges back into danger on the outskirts of settled space to yank them out of the maw.
That was his plan, anyway. But things don't usually go according to plan.
Cover Art
First Part
I reached my arm out experimentally. Well. It wasn’t my arm, yet. Not really. It was just a thin mock-up, a serviceable if plain model the medical center had given me. I had to practice, they said. It would take time to adjust to the different way the limb worked. I didn’t have muscles, after all. It would be a learning process.
Even still...It might have been clumsy, and I couldn’t quite manage to pick up anything without bending or crushing it, but it felt good to have a hand again. I smiled at it, leaning back into my chair.
A new arm, a comfy apartment that would be mine for the foreseeable’d been a rough month since the Rheasilvia, but things were finally starting to look as though they’d get better.
I should have known better. Even to think something like that was tempting fate.
I should have kept my damn mouth shut.
The doorbell beeped. I sat up, my brow furrowing. Someone was here? But I’d already finished therapy for the day. They’d told me I could take the rest of the afternoon. Enjoy myself a little.
“Rick?” I heard someone call—Merriam, the nurse assigned to my apartment that day. “We’re coming in, okay?”
I opened my mouth to call back. Ah, well. There were disadvantages of living in monitored housing, too. Not least of which was the fact that they could just let themselves in whenever they damn well pleased. But, hey. It meant not getting up, which was probably worth the trade.
My response died in a splutter as Merriam turned the corner—accompanied by two men in TerraCorp uniforms, with the emblem of the auditor’s office pinned to their collars.
“O-Oh,” I said instead. “I didn’t realize-”
“I’m sorry, Rick,” one of the men said. A skinny fellow, his face framed by short-cropped blond hair. He was smiling, but the expression looked as plastic and fake as any I’d ever seen. “Sorry. Can I call you Rick?”
His partner didn’t say a word. And where the first man seemed to fit right into the profile of an auditor—slender and just a little sneaky—this guy looked like he could pop my skull with his bare hands.
But, they were auditors. Who was I to tell them no?
“That’s...That’s fine,” I said, still glancing between Merriam and the men. She hadn’t moved.
“By all means,” the man said, glancing to her. “I’d hate to interrupt you. I’m sure you’re quite busy.”
She flinched, jumping a little. “Right,” she said, and flashed him a quick smile. “Here. I’m sure you’re getting pretty sore by now. Let me give you something for that.”
I shook my head. “Really, it’s not bad. I’m not-”
“Here, let me,” she said, still smiling. But...just like with the other man, it There wasn’t the same sincerity in it as there had been even a few hours before.
I couldn’t do anything but lean back as she hurried closer. Her hands closed around my still-whole arm, drawing the sleeve back.
This time, when she pressed the cool metal of the applicator to my skin, it just left me feeling...murky. Foggy. Slow. I blinked, shaking my head and wincing, but she’d already drawn back. “I’ll be- around,” she murmured, backing away.
In another instant she was gone.
Something scraped against the floor of the apartment. I looked back.
The first man stood at the foot of my chair—with his partner alongside him. The first one smiled at me. “Like I said. I apologize for this, Rick.”
“I-I’m...I’m sorry,” I said, shaking my head. “I’m not sure what this is all about.”
“Oh, of course,” he said. “This is just a follow-up, that’s all.”
My brow furrowed. A follow up? To what? My thoughts were like molasses, thick and slow to piece together his meaning. “Um…”
“My assistant spoke with you earlier. About the unfortunate happenings with the convoy.”
“And the Rheasilvia,” the second man said.
Right. That.
“Oh,” I mumbled. “Yeah. Um. I’m sorry, but-”
“We just wanted to go over a few more things while you’re here. Is that okay?”
I glanced up. His expression hadn’t changed. Christ, it was like his whole face was molded and then frozen in place.
Something in his eyes told me that saying ‘no’ really wasn’t an option, though. “Yeah. That’s...fine.”
“Good,” the man said. “I appreciate that, Rick.” He sat on the arm of the couch opposite me. His partner took up a position on the opposite side.
Something bulged in the pocket of the second man’s uniform jacket. A bit of black fabric poked out of the opening. It stood off against the white, drawing my eyes in. I couldn’t quite place what it was.
“Now. My assistant said that you witnessed the whole thing. Is that true?”
“What?” My eyes lifted, tearing free of his coat and returning to his face. “Uh. I...I was there. I saw it.”
“No, no,” the man said, chuckling. “She said you witnessed it all directly. A...what’d she say.” He lifted a pad, tapping through it. “A porthole, I believe?”
“Oh.” I took a deep breath. Every muscle in my body strained, resisting the motion. “Well...I don’t mind telling you what I saw. It’s not much, though.”
The man’s smile gleamed. “Please. I’d really appreciate it.”
“Well…” I mumbled. “It was...we were on duty, like normal.”
“Ah...we?” Something else entered his voice. Tension? Worry?
“Clay Perez and I,” I said, lifting my eyes back to his. “My immediate senior.”
“Right,” the man said. “The other man in the pod. Of course. Please, continue.”
The man who had died. The auditor’s words cut at me as though he’d reached out and plunged a knife into my chest. I flinched, the ripple of shock overcoming even the fog settling over my limbs. “Right,” I said. “Well...we were on duty.”
Clay and I, in the office. I could still see him laughing, the wry smile on his face as he’d confronted me. I should have told him earlier.
I shook my head. “We were...just looking after the shuttles. Keeping an eye on things. Our normal day.”
The man sighed. His partner shifted impatiently. “Yes, yes. If you would, Rick, let’s move ahead to the Tamani. All right?”
I nodded slowly. “Yeah. We were…” The words dripped out of me like sap. “We were just...standing there. And then…” I shook my head. “They came out of nowhere. No warning at all.”
No warning.
“Go on.”
I stared at the ground, my brow furrowed. I hardly even heard him speak.
No warning. We’d gotten absolutely no warning that the Tamani were on top of us. That...That was wrong. Why? Why was I so sure that couldn’t be right?
Clay. Clay had done something.
The signal.
“Rick?” the first man said, still with that horrible smile on his face.
“Sorry,” I mumbled.
“That’s quite all right. You’ve had a difficult time of things, haven’t you?”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“Well, let’s just keep going, shall we?”
“They just...appeared.”
With no warning, no alarm blaring on Clay’s console as they appeared. He’d been running the program, I was sure. Had something changed with the signal?
Unlikely. Even with my thoughts moving at a snail’s pace, I was sure that Clay wouldn’t have messed something up.
So what, then?
“We were surprised,” I said.
“Understandable. And?”
I glanced up.
A fresh wave of unease rolled through my gut.
There, over the first man’s head, one of the corp’s monitoring cameras sat in the corner. And for the first time since I’d set foot in this apartment, the light on its front was dark.
It wasn’t recording. No one was watching. Why?
Why was this conversation something TerraCorp didn’t want observed?
Warning alarms were already starting to go off in my head when the second man shifted, beginning to scowl, and the fabric in his pocket poked free. Adrenaline dripped into my system, combating whatever Merriam had given me.
Gloves. Here, in the perfectly climate-controlled innards of Terra Prime, this man was carrying around gloves.
This auditor.
Be careful, something inside me seemed to whisper. Tread carefully.
Whatever is happening here, it’s bad.
Make them go away.
“Rick, I really don’t want to push you, but-”
“I-I’m sorry,” I whispered. It wasn’t hard to call the tears up. They’d been right there from the minute I woke up, hidden away behind the wall I’d so-carefully constructed. With a blanket settled over my mind and the memory of the Rheasilvia right at my fingertips, all I had to do was let the wall slip. My eyes burned. “I just...we were right there. It all happened fast.”
Fast enough that I hadn’t seen anything. Fast enough that I hadn’t had time to spot anything they didn’t want seen. Whatever that was. I didn’t know, and so I had to say as little as possible.
“I see. And, did you-”
“I-I never saw it coming,” I said. My head drooped forward, even as my hand came up to mop at my face. The two men were starting to creep back, as though the sight of a man having a fucking normal emotional, human response made them worry it could be contagious. My anger simmered higher, joining forces with the adrenaline to clear my head. The tears continued their slow crawl down my cheeks. “Christ. I...I just remember Clay. He grabbed me. And then, the ceiling came down and- and it hit me, and-” I shook my head, clenching and unclenching my mechanical fingers. “W-What am I going to do?”
“Rick, I know this is hard, but-”
“After that, he...he carried me. And then-”
The wave of emotion that crashed down over me was entirely genuine, without even the trace of a ploy at its core. I shuddered, pressing my face into my palms.
He’d been there right from the start. Even when I’d kept things from him, he laughed. That was all. When I had nowhere to go, he’d brought me into the fold. Made me part of his own family.
He’d carried me. Uncomplaining. He’d taken the final blow, so that I didn’t have to.
And I couldn’t even thank him.
My fingers dug into my face, squeezing harder. I fought with myself, struggling to regain control, but it was like a dam in me had finally burst. Try as I might, I couldn’t stop. The sound of my gasping breaths filled my ears.
The two were whispering. Conferring. I couldn’t make out what they said, over the wall of grief that’d landed on my head. Grief for Clay, and for the Rheasilvia. Anger boiled beneath it. Frustration. And now, they’d added fear on top.
There was only so much I could be asked to take.
“Thank you for your time, Rick,” I heard the first man say quietly. “That’ll be all.”
I didn’t look up. I could see them moving, though. Their feet drifted away, exiting my vision.
Distantly, I heard the front door open, and then close again.
Alone again, I curled up in the chair. And I cried.
That night, when I lay in my bed staring up at the ceiling, my tears finally dried, I’d reached three conclusions. Three things that would change the course of my life forever.
I realized that TerraCorp was looking for something. Worse, that they were hiding something. Something that they suspected I knew.
I realized that if I wanted to live, now was a very good time to get as far away from the corp as I could.
And I realized that whatever the Terracorp were so paranoid about was, the destruction of our convoy lay right at its heart. Then and there, I knew the truth.
It wasn’t an accident.
The walls of the turret thrummed around him, roaring with the impact of every blow the Tamani directed toward it. The central column groaned. Each strike and each slam set the structure to rattling, as though it might come down at any moment.
Caught in the control chair, McCallister tried not to think about it. If it collapsed around him, well, there’d be no one to pull him back out. That’d be his death as surely as if the Tamani burned a hole through his chest.
Not that he had an escape route anyway, but that wasn’t the death he’d hoped for.
Around and around he spun, moving on instinct more than any sort of strategy. They were too quick, too organized. When he squared the reticule off on one ship, another would slam his backside, leaving the turret rattling anew. When he swiveled, twisting madly for the ships peppering his armor, another would come swinging in from the side.
It was almost like they were playing, he realized. Pushing themselves, seeing how close they could come to destruction. Were they sadistic, or simply too far ahead of humanity to be bothered by a little thing like their morals and standards?
Whatever the answer was, he was doing his best—but his best efforts weren’t getting him very far. Now and again, the stars would align, and he’d squeeze off a perfect shot towards the ships that blasted across the sky. He’d see the arc of light lance from his turret, slamming perfectly into the ship’s crystals.
And, dutifully, he’d see the ship descend to the dusty terrain, its lights flickering and fading.
But there was always another ship. That was the problem. He took one out, and three more rose to take its place. And, besides—he knew that even if he’d momentarily weakened one, it’d be back soon enough. There was nothing he could do to them, not really.
Judging by the steady creaking of the turret’s armor starting to bend and break, he couldn’t keep even his token assault up forever.
His eyes were wide, his teeth gritted. “Come on,” he hissed, hardly hearing his own voice over the screaming of weapons fire and twisting metal. “Come the fuck on, you assholes. You can bring out bigger guns than that.”
Whatever game they were playing, it seemed like their patience was fading. He watched the ships twist away, sailing off into open air. And this time, when they whipped back around, their attacks weren’t so random. A chill ran down his spine at the sight of three of them accelerating toward him, the gunports on their wings already glowing.
This time, the impact was hard enough he heard something in the turret’s spine snap, crackling ominously. Through the haze of green fire, he saw the Tamani ships split off, twisting around the turret and resuming their dance.
But the armor held. McCallister let a breath hiss between his teeth, trying to pretend like his heart wasn’t hammering in his chest. Every fiber of his being screamed to run. It didn’t matter that there was nowhere to go. It didn’t matter that he was doing this for a reason, that he was here to give everyone else a snowball’s chance in hell of survival.
He just wanted to be somewhere else. To be safe again. A twisted smile played at his lips.
But his armor held. Damn TerraCorp, and damn the games they played, but they’d set their colonies up with a solid piece of equipment. As long as it could keep firing, he’d be here.
Another twist, and his view of the landscape tilted again. The targeting system flashed across his screen, fighting to keep up with the enemy ships. They spun back and forth, always just a hair out of reach. The momentary flashes of green crystal that passed before his eyes were like taunts, prizes that he couldn’t quite get his hands on. He sprayed fire from the turret regardless, pushing the ships away every time they inched closer.
Something crackled under the scream of engines and gunfire. The comm system.
McCallister blinked, slowing his fire for a split second. Had someone been trying to talk to him? Again? Hadn’t they gotten the lesson the first time around?
The screens wrapping his face went a furious green-white. He screamed, shying back in the split second before the computer shaded the intensity down.
When he went to rotate the turret around again, though, the truth became clear—the Tamani were having the same thoughts as him. If the trouble was him firing at them, then it didn’t mean they had to destroy the whole turret.
They just had to make sure he couldn’t fire any longer.
The motors around him groaned, shuddering as he coaxed them on. His view wobbled, turning ever so slightly. But not much. Not enough, when the Tamani were darting around like goddamn birds in spring.
He’d manage. Following one Tamani ship with his eyes, he stared it down. The rotors shuddered, fighting to turn him into line. “Fucking goddamn piece of-”
The scream from the main barrel began anew. He watched the energy wash across the Tamani vessel. But the craft brushed it off without seeming to stutter.
“Shit,” McCallister mumbled. He could feel the heat burning in his face, the blood pumped there by the odd mix of adrenaline and terror in his system. “Turn around and fight me, you little-”
The voice rang out loud and clear—and there was no mistaking the pride in Julian’s tone. The administrator sounded completely exhausted, but finally, that confidence of his was back.
McCallister’s head spun. His thoughts clawed at his mind, trying to make sense of Julian’s sudden addition. Clear? What the hell was that supposed to mean?
A rumble echoed through the tower, and for once, it didn’t ring with the same intensity as a blow to the building’s armor.
Something burst in McCallister’s machine-aided vision—a flash of light, one that didn’t come from an attacking Tamani ship. Tearing his eyes off the craft that still circled him, searching for a vulnerability they’d missed so far, he twisted back toward that glimmering starburst.
The air rushed from his lungs with a final gasp.
The ship. The colony ship. Fire sprayed out from underneath it, as though the craft had settled down atop a volcano instead of a dusty wasteland.
Fire that he could see gaps through. He could see open air.
They were flying.
A grin tugged at the corners of his lips, spreading wider by the second. The ship was up. It was moving, damn it.
He stared, grinning like a damn fool. It was only for an instant, but that instant seemed to stretch on forever. The ship floated, drifting steadily skyward. The grin on his face twisted, taking on a bittersweet edge, but didn’t fade. He was now the only human on Solovei II.
Clamping down on the turret’s controls, he turned back to the ships—and stopped.
They were still circling, still blasting across the prairie around the turret’s base, but...not as fervently. A few stray shots peppered his armor, but they just seemed to be...watching.
McCallister was ready when the first one turned, angling back toward the colony ship. “Oh, fuck no,” he spat, blood rushing through his ears, and squeezed the trigger before it could so much as fire up.
The bolt slammed into the ship’s crystals. It spluttered, dimming. Down the ship went.
This was it—the moment of truth he’d been dreading. The Tamani didn’t care about outsiders, as long as they weren’t on Tamani turf. He’d hoped that getting the ship into the air would be plenty to satisfy them.
As a second one lunged back toward the colony ship, and as he showered it in energy bolts, the worries that it wasn’t settled in anew.
“Look at me, you bastards,” he spat, ramping the power back up steadily. The aether lines running through the tower groaned in response. When he hit, though, the Tamani didn’t rise again quite so quickly. “Leave it alone. Look at me.”
They seemed to be...waiting. Deciding. Were they arguing amongst themselves?
Not for the first time, McCallister wished there’d been some sort of contact between the Solaran worlds and the Tamani.Maybe it’d help them understand what the hell the too-powerful aliens were even thinking. How they operated.
Another ship twitched, firing its thrusters—and he sent another barrage slamming into its hindquarters, ending its charge before it could even begin.
Come on, he willed, screaming the words in his thoughts. You’ve been poking at my armor from the start. You don’t have to. You’ve got more you can throw at me, I know it.
Did they, though? The thought squirreled its way in, taking up roost among the rest of the terrors filling his mind. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe everything he thought he’d worked out was false, little more than the deranged delusions of a man trying to make sense of a tragedy.
If he was wrong, then he’d die here, and the colony ship would be on its own. It was already rising, accelerating toward the cloud line above. They’d probably be fine. They had Lily, and Julian, and Reid. They’d manage.
But if he was right, then he’d get the chance to take out a hell of a lot of them when he went. And he liked that. He liked that idea very much. “First man to take out a Tamani ship in a fair fight” would be a hell of a line to engrave on his tombstone.
His upper lip curled back. Well. Maybe not a fair fight.
“Come on!” he roared, pumping shot after shot into the gathered ships, the ones that still drifted in loose formation. “Just do it! Stop wasting your time! If you want to kill me so badly, then just-”
The Tamani ships moved.
He gaped, caught completely by surprise at the seamless maneuver. The ships moved as one, firing off in perfect unison. Out wide—he cursed, renewing his assault on them—and then...back.
Shit. Sucking in a lungful of air, he brought the reticule up and-
The ship out front pivoted, twisting in midair as it accelerated toward the turret. Something shifted on its underbelly, silver on silver. Like pieces moving. Portholes opening.
McCallister caught sight of the projectiles spraying from the underside of its wing, but little more. They were too fast, too small. He heard it, though—the report of whatever they were slamming into the tower’s armor.
There. His pulse thundered, accelerating to new heights. He fired again, but the ships all swirled, circling out of reach. He turned, fighting to follow, but it was hopeless.
McCallister’s skin prickled. The control chair was humming underneath him. It was low, and gentle enough he almost thought he was imagining it,, it grew stronger by the second. Not just the chair. He could hear something vibrating through the floor. The walls. Hell, even the bones of the tower themselves were starting to quiver along with it.
“Shit,” McCallister moaned, wriggling farther down in the chair. At the last, he grabbed the screen that’d been his vision, yanking it back down, and keyed the turret into auto-target mode.
It wouldn’t hit jack shit, but he didn’t need to. With the floor starting to rumble underneath his feet, he forced himself back to vertical.
The once-dim room glowed, lit from beneath with a brilliance that sent shivers down his spine.
The turrets had been built to last. He knew that. They were each built onto a pile driven down into solid rock, armored with apparently the sturdiest plating TerraCorp could muster. And among other things, that meant that each turret had a central pillar that rose from beneath it. A pillar that was gapped, for storage of whatever maintenance tools were needed for the turret.
A pillar that all but glowed, now, with that same brilliance seeping up through the gaps in the flooring he’d torn.
There had been quite a few cylinders left over after Lily finished tossing their bait out the back hatch of the ship. There’d been more than enough to leave a pool of condensed aether across the foundations of the turret.
A pool that had spread with every minute their fight had taken. And now, a pool that sang.
McCallister ran. There was no more hesitation, no stopping to check this setting or that command on the tower. It was still firing overhead, and that was fine. It’d manage. The whine of something building around him grew stronger by the heartbeat, accompanied by a furious red-gold glow that he remembered all too well.
He’d have grinned, if he wasn’t too focused on bolting toward the turret’s side door. He was right, damn it. He’d known something had changed for the Tamani that fateful day a decade past. They’d had something new up their sleeves—and the reaction of TerraCorp had made it clear they were interested, too. Some tool, some means of working the impossible and using resonance as a weapon.
So be it. If they wanted to blow him up, well. They’d get more than they bargained for.
He hit the door hard, not slowing in the slightest. It popped open before the force of the impact, casting him back out into the green-lit air.
The scream of engines from overhead filled his ears. He’d thought it’d been loud in the tower, but clearly, it’d shielded the worst of the din. The turret punctuated each thruster-fire with a blast of heat and energy.
He ran. His eyes were glued to the edge of the man-made plateau, to where terraces started to descend along the hillside.
Behind him, he heard an engine ramp up, starting to draw closer.
They’d seen him, then. His breath came ragged, his chest burning. Faster. Run faster.
In an instant, they’d cut him down. Set him on fire where he stood, burned to a crisp before he could so much as scream.
Don’t think about it. Just run.
Behind him, the shrill voice of the aether rose higher and higher, quickly passing fever pitch. There it was. The real concern. The real thing that'd put a stop to him.
The Tamani hadn’t fired yet. Had he been mistaken, and it wasn’t looking his way? Was he fleeing undetected?
Or had it just discovered another problem, one that needed its more immediate attention?
Just a little more. The shriek of the resonance deafened him, wiping out any other noise. His ears rang with it, louder than he’d ever heard before. Move. His legs were a blur, his feet flying over the uneven terrain. The edge lay ahead, so close it hurt. Just run. Don’t stop. Just-
He launched himself over the terrace’s edge, hardly registering the clouds of dust that cascaded around him from a shot gone wide. Open air stretched beneath him.
McCallister floated. There, hanging in his vision, he saw the turret, its thick armor plating battered and torn, with scorch marks covering every inch. It fired still, relentlessly seeking out its targets. It glowed, lit from within as though TerraCorp had bottled up a star. The hum of it shook the ground itself, leaving everything quivering, until-
A flash of light.
Somehow, McCallister brought his arm up. He was still falling, descending toward the first ledge. And then that silvery limb rose, a pathetic shield against what was coming.
The air left his lungs as he slammed down into the dusty terrain.
And then the world went white.

2020.09.30 17:29 satchelsofgold Spamhaus partner demands paid subscription for using the Spamhaus DNSBL.

So I'll keep this short. We are a small ISP operating for almost two decades. We offer e-mail services to our customers using Spamassassin (and the default URIDNSBL plugin). Today we got approached by a Spamhaus partner sales person demanding that we start paying for using the Spamhaus blacklists. This is called the Datafeed Query Service (DQS) I believe.
Now I can't argue with the fact that we indeed make commercial use of the Spamhaus service and that is not allowed, which I found out through this e-mail.
But somehow this is bothering me as I don't feel I have all the information and this sales person is pestering me for a phone call and trying to score a sale I'm sure, while also threatening that our IP's are going to get blocked soon if we don't resolve this issue.
Looking for advice from people who are familiar with the subject matter:

2020.09.30 16:58 quitehopelessguy Another piece of very sad and devastating info about current situation in Poland. The Anti-LGBT Ministry of Education and Science and the Trump's ambassador in Poland against the LGBT hate

I really didn't want to write about this because my blood is boiling and I want to murder the hell out of some people in the parliament in Warsaw who belong to the far right-wing government, but I think it's best to spread the word about this in the world.
The first thing - the current Minister of Education doesn't give a fuck about LGBT people
In the night between Tuesday and Wednesday (tonight) on the building of the Ministry of Education a group of unidentified people wrote five names and a slogan "Your child LGBT+". The current Minister of Education calls that a devastation. He doesn't care that those five names are the names of children, who committed suicides because of the bullying and stalking related to homophobia.
One MP wrote on Twitter that "the elevation has no feelings. The elevation won't hang itself on shoelaces. It won't jump off the bridge. The writings on the walls can be washed off. But you can't wash off the blood from the hands of people, who contributed to the deaths of children."
The Ministry of Education was informed many times about homophobia in schools, but they didn't do shit. And if right now someone writes names on the walls, he/she is a barbarian.
The second thing - the soon-to-be Minister of Education and Science says that "LGBT people are not equal to normal people"
The man who will become the Minister of Education and Science in the new government is clearly and visibly anti-LGBT. On June 13th on air his LGBT hate speech was like this: "Let's protect the families from this kind of rottenness, depravation, absolutely immoral behavior, let's protect us from the LGBT ideology and let's stop listening to all those idiocies about so-called human rights or so-called equality. Those people are not equal to normal people and let's end this discussion". As he was saying this, he showed on his phone photos of people in the center of Los Angeles, where he was "on a business trip and he was passing by the pride parade" (another closeted gay?).
He's also a Law professor in CATHOLIC University of Lublin (to those who don't know - it's one of the bases of Polish catholic mafia). During one of his lectures he said "there is nothing such as homosexual marriage in the nature. It's just like a dry puddle or a dry sea. Either there is a puddle or there is not. If there is no water, it's not a puddle anymore. The same with marriage - either it's a relationship between a woman and a man, or there is not." He's also anti-feministic and he also says that there should be more religious-themed TV programs and other media.
On September 27th 2018 he commented on the pride parade in Lublin as a march that promotes "deviations and degeneration" and "anti-family, anti-christian attitudes, directly against the catechism and Constitution of Republic of Poland". He never apologized, moreover he said that he won't ever apologize for those comments.
And yeah, I know the catechism too well, not itself but the struggle of studying it. I had to learn it by heart during my course for my sacrament of confirmation. If the priest could, he would beat me with a stick for not remembering the smallest detail.
This monster has never stated any opinion on the education system in the parliament, yet he's going to be the minister. The man who is a Law professor, but doesn't respect basic human rights. The man who hates LGBT people and believes in the superiority of men over women.
The only information in English I managed to find about him is here.
What is very ironic is the fact that the building of Ministry of Education was once the base of Gestapo and SD (Sicherheitsdienst) in occupied Warsaw during the Second World War. Now there might be an anti-LGBT Gestapo in the very same place.
The third thing - US Ambassador Georgette Mosbacher and other diplomats are against the hate from Polish government towards the LGBT community. She said that Poland in the case of LGBT is on the wrong side of history.
An open letter urges the Polish government to "end discrimination" of sexual minorities. It was signed by envoys from 50 countries, including Poland's EU partners, the US (the country, which many Polish people love and admire), Israel and India. No surprise, because FUCKING ONE THIRD OF POLAND IS A HUGE LGBT-FREE ZONE. One city went even further and banned 5G and Wi-Fi. We’re not in the 21th century, we’re in the VERY Dark Ages.
Of course, the Polish government tells lies as always, in response to Georgette Mosbacher's words the government said that nobody in Poland discriminates against LGBT people, they have the same rights and duties as people who are single or live in informal relationships. No shit. All that is a fucking DISGUSTING LIE.
Someone's probably going to comment something about European Union's reaction or about Hungary. Well, SURPRISE, SURPRISE: Hungary and Poland to Set Up Joint Institute for Comparative Law against ‘Suppression of Opinions by Liberal Ideology’. It's good to have a loyal partner, but not in the situation when both are rotten to their very cores.
I can't take this anymore. What needs to be done to stop this horror? Do we have to summon Beelzebub, Lucifer, Mephistopheles, Satan, and other demons so that they will take all those motherfuckers with them to the bottom of hell?

Hi all, I'm a US citizen trying to get into Spain to see my partner. The idea is to first stop in London and then fly over to Spain, sneak in with Brits and hope there are no airport checks at El Prat (BCN).

Can someone give me an idea of how their experience was when traveling from London to BCN or other major Spanish cities? Thank you so very much.

2020.09.30 16:47 ourstupidearth Any experienced house flippers looking to partner on a deal in Waterloo, ON?

Long story short, I purchased this property privately recently: I have done similar projects in the past, however, with a full time job and a new baby I'm not super excited about diving into a reno this big right now. So I am looking to partner with someone that can finance and execute the renovation - someone with experience and know how.
Fixed up comps in the area are going for $900k to $950. Work to be done would be somewhere $100k-$150k range, depending on the scope and finishes etc.
I am open to a VTB Mortgage or a Equity Partnership.
DM me for more info and we can start a conversation.

Finding a Hidden Gem in Massachusetts

aerial view of boston
The state of Massachusetts is one of the oldest states in the Union, and one of the most beautiful. Although small in comparison with many other states across the country, the state of Massachusetts has many things to offer that more than make up for its small size. From its fascinating history to its rich beauty, there are plenty of things to see here.
So what are the best cities to visit in Massachusetts, and which should you make your vacation destination, or even permanent home? Well, there are a lot of cities to choose from, so we’ll get right into it. Let’s get started!

Boston, MA

Starting off with a well known location, the city of Boston Massachusetts is, without a doubt, far and away one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the state. This historic city has witnessed some of the most influential events in American history, from the foundation of one of the oldest settlements in the new world to the Boston Tea Party.
Today, the city is a vibrant, progressive metropolis with a ton of fun things to see and do, from its upbeat nightlife to its many intellectual, academic and cultural establishments such as museums, art galleries and university campuses. There’s something here for everyone, no matter what your taste and interests!
Real estate prices in Boston are quite high, at a median price of $640,000; but if you have the funds, this is a great place to live. But it’s not just a great tourist destination; it’s also a great place to live! While homes are somewhat pricey at a median price of around $868,000, you can count on getting your money’s worth.

Lexington, MA

Yet another city with a rich and storied past, Lexington has throughout history borne witness to some of the most monumental and influential events in our nation’s history. With such an important distinction to its name, it’s no surprise that this is a very popular location amongst travelers who are also history enthusiasts. Millions visit the town each year, in order to learn more about the history of the founding of our great nation.
But Lexington is more than just a must see on your next tour of New England; it’s also a fantastic place to live! With phenomenally low crime rate, excellent education system, booming real estate market, you would be hard pressed to come up with a reason why moving here would be a bad idea.

2020.09.30 16:01 runQuick How much roaming do I get? Is it really 200 MB per billing cycle?

According to T-Mobile (no need to click as I've pasted the relevant text below in this post), there is 200 MB of domestic roaming data per billing cycle.
I have the T-mobile Essentials plan.
The reason why I'm asking is, the phone in question is in Anchorage, Alaska where there's almost no T-Mobile reception so it's always on roaming. That phone received a warning from T-Mobile saying that if it continues to roam, T-Mobile will cancel the phone.
So here are some questions, for that phone in Alaska, is there a way I can pay for more data roaming (according to the T-Mobile rep I spoke to who was not helpful, there is no way to add more roaming and he also said that roaming doesn't exist and that I should switch to another carrier in Alaska)? And is it really 200 MB per billing cycle because I thought I read somewhere that if most of your usage is roaming for 4 consecutive months, it's against T-Mobile policy so I'm very confused at how much actual roaming there is.
How much domestic roaming data do you get?
Recent postpaid plans (On or after 11/15/2015)
If you have one of our more recent postpaid plans from the last few years (all Magenta plans, T-Mobile Essentials, all T-Mobile ONE plans, or a Simple Choice plan activated on or after November 15, 2015 - both voice and mobile Internet), then you have 200 MB of domestic roaming data per billing cycle.
Preferred roaming partners
T-Mobile has two classifications of domestic roaming networks based on the agreement we have in place with each partner, standard and preferred.
In some parts of the US, preferred partners may provide additional courtesy data beyond the amount included in your rate plan while domestically roaming; standard partners do not. If roaming on a preferred partner network, you may continue to receive data at 2G speeds or higher until you return to a T-Mobile coverage area, begin roaming in another area covered by one of our standard network partners, or begin the next bill cycle. This additional amount of data is provided as a courtesy and is determined by the individual partnership, varies across network partners, and may change or even be removed at any time.

Getting Abortion Pills in Welverdiend +27727793390? Here’s Where You Can Go

Welverdiend Abortion Clinic
Where To Get Abortion Pills in Welverdiend?
For a lot of people, getting pregnant or having children is a blessing. This is especially true if you have a loving partner to help you raise a child, you have a stable job, and is physically, emotionally, and mentally ready to have a kid of your own.
On the other hand, there are people who may find it hard to raise a child, let alone carry it in their wombs for months. This is why there are those who would opt to get an abortion instead.
Why some women get an abortion pill
There are several reasons why people may choose to give up on the child inside their wombs.
“I feel like a baby would dramatically change my life.”
Career women and those who barely have time for themselves may find it difficult to carry a baby in their wombs for such a long period of time. They might feel that they’re not ready to give up on their lifestyle yet.
“I can’t afford it yet.”
This is somewhat similar to the first reason women get an abortion. It’s understandable though because hospital bills are so expensive. The cost of raising a kid, sending them to school, and the like can be quite unbearable to many people.
“I’m not ready yet.”
It’s not so much about being financially ready, but more so about being mentally and emotionally prepared for such a great responsibility. These women may be busy with school or work and they can’t afford to lose everything they’ve worked so hard for yet if they get pregnant.
“I have so many dreams to fulfill.”
A lot of women nowadays are go-getters. They want to work hard for what they want. They won’t let anything or anyone stop them, including having a child of their own.
Where to get an abortion pill in Welverdiend
If you have decided to get an abortion pill soon because you want to achieve your goals, here are some of the safest abortion pill clinics you can find in Welverdiend.
